Today and tomorrow, on May 7, the USA President George Bush’s visit to Latvia will be reflected by 466 foreign and local media representatives, Agency LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry’s (FM) Press Secretary Atis Lots.

The world largest media are represented: news agencies «Reuters», «Associated Press», AFP, DPA, and representatives from several Russian mass media have been accredited.

180 of these media representatives are from the USA: from TV channels CNN, CBS, «Fox», NBC, from newspapers «New York Times», «Washington Times» and «Financial Times».

Media representatives from Byelorussia, Japan, Scandinavia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic will also arrive in Riga.

During the visit, American media representatives will work from their own press center, while all others — from the press center especially arranged by the FM in the Congress Building.

70 computers with Internet connections, word processors and file saving facilities will be placed at the press center. A possibility will be provided to connect laptops (having supplied with PJ 45 plug) to the Internet. Wireless (WLAN) connections to the Internet, as well as analogue dial-in lines will also be available.

The press center will be supplied with printers, copiers, fax machines, telephone sets, and ISDN lines for transmission of radio records and pictures. The number of lines will be limited, and places will be distributed according to «first come, first served» principle.

Sound recording possibilities for radio needs and TV transmissions will also be provided at the press center. Coffee and snacks also available.

The press center will work today from 10.00 till 1.00, and tomorrow, May 7, — from 7.00 till 24.00.
