On May 6 and 7, during the USA President George Bush’s visit, restrictions to transport traffic and movement of physical persons will be applied in the center of Riga, in the area surrounding the hotel «Radisson SAS Daugava», and in the aquatorium of the river Daugava between Vanšu and Akmens bridges, the Internet portal «Apollo» was informed by the Cabinet of Ministers Press Secretary Aivis Freidenfelds.

The restricted area in the center of Riga will be closed at midnight on Friday, May 6, and the restrictions will be cancelled around 19.30 on Saturday, May 7. The restricted area in the neighborhood of the hotel «Radisson SAS Daugava» and the aquatorium of the river Daugava between Vanšu and Akmens bridges will be closed from 7.00 on May 6 till 21.00 on May 7.

Transport and pedestrian access to the restricted areas will be organized through special check points.

Check points of natural persons will be located:

1. In Riga center, on the crossings of Kr. Valdemāra iela and Kronvalda bulvāris, Kalpaka bulvāris and Antonijas iela (only for access to the Press Center), Brīvības bulvāris and Kalpaka bulvāris, Raiņa bulvāris and Kr. Barona iela, Teātra iela and Vaļņu iela, Šķūņu and Tirgoņu iela, un Herdera iela and Dome Square;

2. In the area of the hotel «Radisson SAS Daugava» on the crossing of Kuģu and Staraja Rusas iela.

Vehicle check points:

1. In Riga center, on the crossings of Kr. Valdemāra iela and Kronvalda bulvāris, Kalpaka bulvāris and Antonijas iela (only for access to the Press Center), Kr. Valdemāra and Kalpaka bulvāris and 11. novembra krastmala and Poļu gāte.

2. In the area of the hotel «Radisson SAS Daugava» on the crossing of Trijādības and Staraja Rusas iela.

To access the restricted areas, natural persons will have to produce personal ID documents (passport, driver’s license), while drivers — also passes issued by security institutions.

Natural persons will be able to move freely within the restricted areas on their daily errands. However, security services may temporarily divert them from certain routes.

Everybody will be able to get out of the restricted areas, also those who do not «belong» to the territory but have occurred there before closing. Therefore, before leaving for Friday night cultural or entertainment events, be sure to take a personal ID document to be produced to security staff upon request.
